I painted this last summer in San Francisco. The location is reflected by the name of the streets in the title. There is a large hill (known as Lone Mountain) in view to the left background behind the row of houses which is too steep for traffic. Upon that hill is a group of building – USF adn Loyola House Jesuit Community. When I painted it there was a misty fog common in SF even in summer before noontime. This created an atmosphere separating the distance from the foreground (note how the tree and red car stand out in contrast). The little car in the foreground is a Fiat which seems to be very popular car with economy/ecology minded San Franciscans.
