I did this drawing a few weeks ago waiting to meet a friend at the corner of 68th and Lexington. It was a bit cold out but I enjoyed drawing in the middle of the day in the middle of the city (by Hunter College).

Recently I’ve begun in the figure drawing class to experiment with “troix crayons.” This is a drawing of Lex done with red, black and white which I did earlier this evening. Here is an online site with instruction and information on the concept of “troix crayons.” http://georgetownatelier.com/tutorials/figure-trois-crayons/

On New Year’s Day I went to visit a friend who lives on Church Street in Brooklyn (near Prospect Park). On the train ride I had an opportunity to do a sustained drawing on the ride out there, and on the way back as well. Here are the results.

A new model at the League is always a cause for celebration. Here we have a new model (whose name I’ve yet to learn). I’ve been continuing with charcoal trying to improve my handling of the medium and I feel I am making progress which is why I am sharing this particular drawing I did […]

Most of my subway sketches are practice – like a pianist doing his scales, just that, just practice. Did this drawing tonight, I drew Lex each day this week at the sketch class at the Art Students League. He was a joy to draw because of the musculare tone of his body; all the things you read about in the anatomy books can so clearly be seen on Lex. I have been attempting […]
